Bri's Bio
Who are you?
Bri Dellinger
What do you do in this band?
Oboe, Keys, Flute, Banjo, Glockenspiel, Vocals (is it cool to say vocals? Or should I put vox? I don't know... all the cool people write "vox")
What do you do as a day job?
Reality television editor
Hometown:
Luxurious Stockton, California (suburb-city nestled amidst agriculture land in the middle of the state known best for its soaring crime levels, county prison, and delicious fresh produce)
Do you consider yourself an adult?
Not a girl... not yet a woman. Honestly I don't know many adults in the entertainment industry who strike me as actual adults.
How old are you in age?
25 and planning to stay that way.
Why do you live where you live?
Moved to Los Angeles to work in television/film. I live in the neighborhood of Los Feliz because it is the happiest place in LA. Adorable architecture, restaurants, shops, bars...There are less babies than the Valley, less crackheads than Downtown, less beach cruisers than Santa Monica and not nearly as many dogs as Silverlake.
Favorite weekend activity?
Riding around LA with my bicycle gang.
Weird hobby?
Hula hooping. Yes, I am completely serious. I picked it up after attending too many Burning Man related events. It started seeping into my brain and the only way I can release the poisonous hippie toxins is by hula hooping for hours in my building's community area. I'm alright at it. I can do tricks and stuff, but I get nervous in front of people and drop it a lot. Working on getting better. Thinking of giving up and getting a normal hobby.
Current musical obsession?
I'm really into electronic music. My most recent favorite is DiskJokke, thanks to my sister.
All-time overarching favorite band?
I have to name top 5: The Darkness, Sufjan Stevens, Daft Punk, Erlend Oye, and Of Montreal
First album you owned?
I wasn't allowed to listen to pop music until my older siblings began introducing me to 90's Contemporary Country music like John Michael Montgomery and Garth Brooks, so before that all I had was this Huey Lewis and The News tape of the album "Fore". Recently bought it on vinyl for a trip down a cheesy memory lane. It's weird that "Fore" was one of Jason's firsts as well.
Favorite viral video?
Planet Unicorn ("Heyyyyy")
Favorite blogs, if any?
Blogging LA, Best Week Ever, Drudge Report, and for some solid music suggestions: Good Weather for Airstrikes
Best restaurant in the world, (or LA):
I go to Niko Niko Sushi in Los Feliz a couple times a week, but the best sushi I've had in LA is at Katsu-Ya in Studio City. Sushi is my favorite food.
Favorite bar in the world, (or LA):
Coolest bar in LA just happens to be a speakeasy near (not IN) downtown LA. What you want to know the name? Can't tell.
Has a band ever changed your life... or your perspective of music?
I'd say Daft Punk changed my life for sure. I just can't pinpoint how. They are just amazing. I really can't get enough.
Weirdest/most embarrassing music phase you've gone through:
Hands down: freshman year of college. I listened to all of the following (while wearing flip-flops in Malibu):
Dashboard Confessional
Jack Johnson
John Mayer
Jimmy Eat World
And a whole bunch of emo bands. Now you know I am holding nothing back.
Most embarrassing album you own and still listen to:
Musical soundtracks. I'm a band geek, not a drama geek, and I've been listening to a LOT of musical soundtracks lately: Newsies, The Buffy Musical, Across the Universe.
